I miss my friends from Barbee. How can we see each other again? |
|
These events are: You can make plans with your friends to attend these events while you are at camp or by email after you return home from Barbee. Additionally, there is the Young Adult Camp held at both Camp Barbee and Camp Bedford. This camp reunites former campers who are ages 18 to 25 ...more or less... but you must no longer be attending high school as a condition to register for this camp. Finally, you can plan your own Private Reunion while you are at Barbee with your friends. Just find a friend who has a large back yard and parents who are willing to host the event. Try to plan for more than one reunion throughout the year if you can. Contact our webmaster if you would like to use this website to announce and advertise your reunion.

Who came up with the idea for this website? |

After a wave of spiritual nostalgia, Jim yearned for his lost friends from past years and he wanted to share the Barbee Christian Camp experience with as many people as possible. Jim developed a vision for a website that was dedicated to encouraging other people to attend as campers, counselors and staff; to be a photo gallery for the camps, and to reunite old friends who had met at Camp Barbee by giving the Camp a presence on the internet that people can visit. Jim called a friend that he met at Barbee in the old days and asked him to be the webmaster.

Some web browsers (even brand-new versions) need a special plug-in to play Flash videos and this is normal. Be a camper until you graduate from high school, become a Counselor when you meet the age limit, become a Director, take a summer job at Barbee, send us your images and videos from camp, stay involved in the Church, stay in touch with the friends you make at Barbee and tell everyone about this website.

Do you have the support of the Christian Church in Indiana? |

Yes, we do. The Regional Office of the Indiana Disciples of Christ church has very graciously given their permission for us to use their logo, the name "Camp Barbee" (and all variations of the name that can identify the campground), images of the people, the campground and the buildings.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indiana holds the copyright for the name "Camp Barbee," any variations of the name that can identify the camp, and the logo depicting the state of Indiana, chalice and shepherd's staff. Permission is given for all visitors to download and keep anything from this website.

Terry and Jill Best became the camp managers and administrators in September of 2004.
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has many events throughout the year where people from Barbee can see each other again.
Jim was a CYF camper at Barbee when disco music played on the radio, and he
currently lives in New Hampshire. Jim brought his son to Barbee to
share the camping experience with him.
The "Chalice & X" logo was created on January 20, 1970 at Stouffer's Inn in Indianapolis when Dr. Ronald E. Osborn drew a communion cup
on a placemat with a red felt-tip pen that he had brought from the
office. The "X" is actually the Cross of St.
Andrew.
The Chalice is in memoriam to Reverend David H. Clark. The chalice on the Dining Hall was purchased with funds given in memory of Reverend David H. Clark who went to be with the Lord in 2002. Reverend Clark earned a degree in both Christian Education and in Ministry. He worked in camp and conference related activities for fifty years as a camp counselor, on the Indiana Regional Staff (from 1970 to 1972), on the Camp Commission and the Site Committee. David Clark was a strong supporter camps and conferences in Indiana, and he will be missed but never forgotten.
